Ochi , the «balcony of Aegean», wedding bed of Jupiter and Hera.
This region of Southern Evia can be found in early prehistoric times, myths and historic references. The most interesting reported myths are the ones that have to do with the relation of ancient Greek gods with the region.
Goddess Hera is closely connected with this, mainly with the top of mountain Ochi. The word Ochi emanates from the verb ochevo (copulate), that it means to mate and it refers in the sexual intercourse of Jupiter and Hera. Hera was raised from the nymph Makria in Evia. So in the mountain tops of the island, Jupiter met Hera and Ochi became their wedding bed. Thus therefore Ochi, the balcony of Aegean, was chosen by the gods in order to begin the materialization of world.
